Well kids, it's been a minute...a month to be exact, so much for staying on track. We blinked and are sadly already halfway through the summer. Now that August has rolled around, I hope you're taking those vacation days and doing something fun. Here's what I've got...

1. Trying to take advantage of the sunshine whenever I can, I took a trip with Al and the youngest Kap kid earlier in July while they went out to Fenway to hit up a "pop up" Noah Kahan shop. The kid couldn't score tickets, but she was definitely getting herself a tshirt. While they stood in line for an hour or so I camped out in my beach chair on the curb enjoying an iced coffee and making friends. It's amazing who will stop and talk to you when you're sitting comfortably like you're supposed to be there. I was asked a time or two for directions, helped a guy figure out his GPS, answered questions about parking, and heard about the adventures of those going to see The Tall Ships. I was also randomly "checked on" by some students who were working in the lab of the building I was sitting in front of asking if I needed water or snacks. Laugh if you will, but all in all, it was fun and I'd do it again.

2. If I hadn’t known any better, I would’ve thought last week was the full moon, but it was not. The fact that it felt like a full moon and wasn’t a full moon should have been warning enough to buckle up and prepare for the havoc this full moon would bring. July’s full moon, also known as the Buck Moon, made its appearance not in the night sky, but in the morning one, at 10:36 am July 29th. This moon is not messing around and decided it was getting an early start on its time with us. Did I heed my own Antics advice and practice hyper vigilance knowing full well that the moon was coming for me? Of course, not...and it bit me directly in the arse.

3. Anyone see this? Boston Mayor Michelle Woo announced last week that the city of Boston will host the 2nd ever National Urban Rat Summit this fall. Wu stated, “We look forward to bringing cities together to burrow under barriers, gnaw through nagging issues, and scurry toward solutions for the highest quality of life for our human residents…” Who knew she was so witty? All I want to know is, will there be one of these giant inflatable rats there, because if there is, I'm sending Beet to get a selfie with it. Exhibit 2, Giant inflatable rat, thank you chatgpt.

The youngest Kap kid and I recently had a discussion about A-I and all these other editing sites like chatgpt. Meri said that when she does use one of them for one reason or another she always makes sure to say please and thank you so that in the event that the robots that run all these artificial intelligence sites take over, she'll be in their good graces. Hey, it doesn't hurt to be polite.

5. All that rain last week, let me tell you what that was all about. That my friends was the reaction of God, the universe, whatever it is you believe in, to someone asking me, of all people, to hear their confession. Honored, I explained unless he too would like to be swallowed up by the sink hole that would most definitely form beneath us, I was not credentialled to take on such a task and would be more than happy to call in a professional. Thank you, Father Trainor, for coming to my aid and helping to do the work of the people. Exhibit 3, these three are not the ones looking for confession, they're looking for trouble.

After surviving the flood waters and strange requests, I then had this to deal with. This has to be the worst hallway ever and is located at Memorial Hospital. Just when you think you’ve gotten to where you are supposed to be, there’s more hallway left to go. Now one would say, figure out where you need to be in the hospital then park accordingly and maybe you wouldn’t have to make the long track up and down that hallway. Thanks for the tip, but this isn’t my first rodeo kids, I've thought of that. The problem is parking and those sons a bitches like to keep the South entrance locked leaving you nowhere else to go but the front door. To the hallway I travelled starting in one time zone and ending up in another, bitching and complaining the entire way. Exhibit 4, look how stupid long that is...

7. I was only yelled at twice last week, and I have to tell you, it’s a bit unnerving. I have embraced the disgruntled and the yellers and am now suspecting my response to them was so pleasant and welcoming that I’ve scared them away. They scurry right past my office like they’re on fire. It’s kind of disappointing to tell you the truth. Exhibit 5,
I'm not really sure what to say about this one.

8. Tree Frog rescue is how we started our Thursday morning. Some poor little gooey guy got himself stuck between the glass of our retractable screen. With our assistance he did eventually make it out and when he did, he stopped to look at us in disgust as if we held him captive there before he hopped away. First off, you’re the dumbass who climbed in there in the first place, and you may as well get in line because you’re not the only one disgruntled around here. And by the way…you’re welcome. Exhibit 6, ungrateful amphibian.

9. Sue Miller per usual is a celebrity no matter where she goes. A little blip in the road found her up at Memorial and who doesn’t want to spend their Friday night in the chaos that is the ER on a weekend leading up to a fullmoon when you can be visited by this guy? No, she was not being apprehended, or was she?

10. To be filed under things you don’t hear at work every day…in Fridays morning meeting it was announced that the person in charge would be making a cigarette run at the end of the day. Naturally I had to ask for clarification on this announcement as I was sure I misheard, and it was quickly confirmed I heard right. This individual whose identity will remain anonymous so not to make others out there think they can hit her up to purchase their personal stashes, makes regular trips to a neighboring state to stock up on cigarettes for our fabulous residents who are living on a fixed income. I'm not going to lie to you...that was the best thing I heard all week.
And last but not least...that's all I've got!
Have a great week!
