Well kids, we’ve survived our first snowstorm of the season, the torrential rain and strong winds. We weren’t sucked up into the abyss, swallowed whole by the earth, and did not get lost in a snowbank. We may have been a little frosty and/or waterlogged, but for the most part, we survived. This is New England people, we are a hardy bunch who looked into the eyes of this past weeks forecast with snow shovels in hand and stated, bring it, we’re not afraid of the likes of you Mother Nature…well, I hope that all worked out for you...keep in mind it's only January. Here’s what I’ve got…

1. Driving the youngest Kap kid to school at 7am Wednesday during and after all the rain that soaked our poorly plowed streets, I began making a mental list of things none of you will ever hear me say which is as follows…

2. OMG, the city did a fabulous job plowing the side streets. We are so lucky. Honestly, it looks like it never even snowed. This totally explains why our taxes were raised and where those extra dollars are going.

3. I love the snow, ice, sleet and freezing rain so much I do everything in my power to make sure I’m in the middle of it every chance I get. I especially love driving in it - I think that’s the best time ever.

4. Court, the courthouse, parking at the court house, waiting around at court, speaking at court, is the most favorite part of my job. I wish I could go to the courthouse and argue with people every single day. Honestly if I could, it would be a dream come true. Maybe I should've gone to law school.

5. I absolutely do not think that this blueberry in Exhibit 1 is biochemically engineered. It’s perfectly normal that one can buy blueberries this big from the local Big Y in the middle of winter. Of course they're natural and grown on some organic farm somewhere in this country, wherever it is blueberries are grown.

6. Me, retire? No way, I love to work. I hope I can work for the next 50 years. I enjoy doing the work of the people so much, I’m going to offer to do so at 80 hours a week for the rest of my life...oh and one more thing, I’m going to do so for free.

7.  NBA Basketball season? Yes, I love it. Every single second of it. As a matter of fact, I don’t think the season is long enough and I wish it was all year round.

8. I signed up for not one, not two, but three marathons and then a half marathon after those because I love to run. I love it so much I run everywhere I go. Run, run, run – I can’t get enough of it and yes, I truly believe running should be enjoyed and taken advantage of at all times, not just when finding yourself running from the police, or wildlife, or both…

9.  We don’t need to go to dog school. I love to argue with a 70 lb dog who has the attention span of a fruit fly and refuses to come to me. I – LOVE – IT. It’s one of my all-time favorite things to do. I especially love trying to get this dog to come in from the snow and the rain. That in itself is a wicked good time.

Exhibit 2, Gibson and his BFF Dude playing in the snow.

10.  I am a rule follower. I live to follow any and all rules at all times. There are no exceptions to any rules, ever. If you don't follow the rules day in and day out and stay inside the box, the world is certainly going to burst in to flames. Rules - love them - follow them.

And last but not least, if you ever hear me say I like people more than I like dogs, that is a sure sign I've lost my mind or have been abducted by aliens...call for help.

Have a great weekend!
