Well kids, as New England does to us year after year after year, we celebrated Memorial Day in the cold and the rain. The sun came out and it started to warm up just as we were winding down our Memorial Day Monday to prepare for our work week. We woke up Tuesday to gorgeous weather just to add salt to the wound that is having to go to work. The remainder of the week was just as nice, and here we sit, finding ourselves on Friday at the start of a new weekend and looking forward to waking up to 91% chance of rain and a balmy 50 degrees. Let’s look at the upside of this, shall we? 1., at least you’re waking up. 2. It’s still the weekend, so there’s that, and 3. You won’t be at work. Be positive people...Here’s what I’ve got…

We are at the end of May and as promised in The Antics posted earlier in the month, we are coming up on the second full moon of the month, making this full moon a blue moon. What does this mean for all of us? Who the hell knows, at this rate I think we are all accustomed to the moons and the universe messing with us day in and day out. I’m not afraid of you Blue Moon of May, so bring it, I’m ready for you. Please note, if none of you hear from me next week you should probably start looking for me in case the universe is pissed off at these comments, hits back, and has me swallowed up into the abyss.

I found myself out in South Weymouth recently and while perusing the local establishments, I came across this. Butts & Bets II. My first thought, is there a Butts & Bets I, and if so, where is it? According to Google, where we get all our tried-and-true information, Butts & Bets I is located in Randolph MA. But I digress, we’re talking about Butts & Betts II right now. Unfortunately, time was not working with me during this quick drive thru visit to the Weymouth community, but what I noticed is, not only is this a rather unique name of a local establishment, but there appears to be apartments and living space located above it. That led to my next questions…who lives there and do the visitors of those residents ever accidentally go to Butts & Bets I when trying to visit the residents of Butts & Bets II? Does this cause any confusion when giving out directions? And last, what the heck Emma D’Arpino, you’ve been holding out on us...why would you not tell us about this hidden gem that is described as an iconic landmark located in your community? Next week's assignment Emma, is to take a trip to this fine establishment and bring back photo evidence of what they have for offerings...it's the least you can do, Get it together. This was the excitement in Newton Square in the Woo this week…check out this guy who found himself wandering around the Highland Street area. Over near Doherty, he was seen walking about like he had not one care in the world and then decided that maybe he’d make his way back to the woods. Only problem was, this chubby little dude couldn’t get himself up and over the wall to see what was on the other side. I can relate my friend. Last time I tried climbing a fence it did not go well, and Colleen B. Mahoney can confirm this. You too will quickly learn you are often better off taking the long way around.
Exhibit 2, Newton Square Bear

Bears and Bees. Too bad the Newton Square bear didn’t run into this little guy in his travels. Check out this pollen drunk fella. Just going about his business when he realizes he’s been overserved. Again, I can relate, my fuzzy friend. Exhibit 3, like how the caption doesn't drunk shame him, instead says he's resting? Sureeeee he's just resting... this bee is drunk.

I recently came across the Instagram page of WBZ News Radio reporter Matt Shearer also known as reportermatt. Matt Shearer (@reportermatt) • Instagram photos and videos Reporter Matt finds regular run of the mill folks in and around Boston who are spreading cheer while doing the work of the people; doing what they can to spread a little bit of fun and sunshine upon everyone they meet. This particular spotlight caught my eye, and I think I’d like to meet this lady and make her my new BFF. Sharon Smith who is considered Dunkin Donuts royalty, has been with Dunkins in one capacity or another for 40 years, starting out as an overnight baker. She oversees Dunkins in the Boston/Cambridge area and has even made an appearance with Reporter Matt as a featured guest during his recent live appearance at the Wilbur Theater. Known for her contagious laugh, hard work ethic and overall good nature, she is loved by her community like no other. So, if you’re out and about and find yourselves at a Dunkins in the Boston area and are lucky enough to have a Sharon sighting, make sure you get a selfie - she’s famous!

Saw this recently and have added this to my running list of retirement ideas. This lady, also putting in a fabulous effort to spread good cheer and do the work of the people, was arrested for posing as a Costco employee on Cinco De Mayo and handing out Tequila shots. I say shame on Costco for not seeing this as a great marketing gimmick and feel they should be scolded for squelching their shoppers' good time. Exhibit 5, Tequila lady

I may have to reconsider my stand on birds. Let’s talk about Crows. We’ve talked about crows here and there and I have to say, I will never cross one, because they are no joke. They hold grudges and are lifelong haters. Hating you so much that they manage to pass that hate on in their DNA. They make sure that for generations to come, their hate and begrudgery will be passed on from generation to generation, and when you’re dead, rest assured they’re holding whatever it is you did to piss them off, against all your future generations. Why do I tell you this? Because I think this serves as a good reminder why you should be nice and don’t be an ass. You’re welcome.
Exhibit 5, the Crows know all...

Was behind this car in traffic recently and it made me stop and wonder, are these people trying to suck up to the crows? Because I got news for them…this car pulled out in front of me when I was headed down Glennie Street. The car was pulling out of the Chick Fil A parking lot - I hope you enjoyed that chicken sandwich pal because it could be your last…the crows know.
Exhibit 6, Good luck and Godspeed ya liars.

I’ve had clients over the years who have had parrots. I had a guy many years ago who inherited a parrot from a family member when the parrot was already 50 years old. Fast forward when I met this guy and the parrot was then 75 years old. This man's main concern when he was on his death bed was what would happen to his parrot when he passed away? Would I be willing to take him? Absolutely not. Yes, it is unlike me to say no to an animal in need, but the fact of the matter is, the parrot hated me, would have just assumed peck my eyes out, and all he did was tell me to "F **k off. One would think, how often could she have been sworn at by a bird? To that I answer a lot, because this guy and his bird could never manage to stay out of trouble. This article in Exhibit 7 may be from 2018, but I recently ran across it, and it made me feel better. It wasn't just me being verbally accosted by a parrot, there are other parrots out there who like to tell even our bravest public servants exactly what they think of them. Exhibit 7.

If this isn’t a recipe for disaster, I don’t know what is. I’d like to know who in their right mind thought this would be a good idea, but what do I know, apparently this isn’t the first season such an event has been held at Polar Park. The Woo Sox will hold their annual “Purr in the Park” on Thursday June 4th. Fans who purchase a special ticket package not only get to bring their cat to the game but are also able to purchase $2 hot dogs and $2 beers. Let’s hope no one is overserved like the bee in # 4 because cats don’t like each other, mayhem may break out, and someone could lose an eye.
Exhbit 8, if any of you take your cat to The Woo Sox next week, we'd love to hear about it.
And last but not least, have a great weekend!
